Tay Township Santa Claus Parade

Thanks to Michelle Gouett, her team of dedicated workers, and the participation of some 35 area entries, Santa arrived in Waubaushene on November 29 to the delight of hundreds of local residents. Our Tay Heritage Committee float followed the Colour Party and the Midland Pipe Band to head up the parade. Of course all floats and other entries preceded the guest of honour, Santa.

The Tay Heritage float, titled “A Victorian Christmas”, was designed and assembled by members of the Tay Heritage Committee and Municipal Council (and spouses). We put together a collection of a cutter (sleigh), Christmas trees and lights, antique rocking chair, cast iron stove, cooking utensils, kid’s toys and furniture and presents wrapped in burlap; all peopled with an elderly (?) couple and kids in Victorian dress and elves dispensing candies and favours to the spectators.

We look forward to next year’s parade.
